blood_pressure2This team consists of GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Patients will phone their GP practice as normal and, if they need a same-day appointment they will be asked if their details can be shared with the service.

  • Patients will be called back by the service in order of clinical priority with the nurse or GP having a detailed conversation with them

  • The patient may be given advice on how to take care of themselves, arrangements made for medication to be available at a pharmacy or an appointment offered.

If you have a concern or query that needs urgent medical attention and cannot wait for a routine appointment you will be asked to attend the surgery at a pre-determined time slot throughout the morning and afternoon.

Please be advised these appointments are for any medical concerns that cannot wait for a routine appointment and there may be a wait as consultations with the Duty Care Team will be in order of clincial need.

Duty appointments are for medically urgent problems. The Duty Care Team will deal with the urgent problem the same day but more routine problems may be deferred to a routine appointment.

Please do not use the Duty Care Team for medically non-urgent matters, for example:

  1. Sick Notes
  2. Repeat Prescriptions
  3. Ongoing medical conditions
  4. Before a course of antibiotics is complete
